One of Midpoint’s first clients approached us again for a second intervention at their split-level midcentury home. Built in 1950, the original main living level had had multiple additions and reconfigurations through the years. In the first phase, a vaulted primary suite was added to bookend an earlier, short L-shaped wing addition. The new full basement below provided guest and family room spaces with a generous lightwell.
In the second phase, the kitchen, a portion of which was built over an earlier porch, was opened up and more closely integrated with the original vaulted living space. By relocating the main front entry, which had opened directly
between the spaces, a screened entry was created which the house had lacked.
